Mental Health Services

Did you know that one in three people will experience mental health problems at sometime in their lifetime?

Our mental health work is delivered primarily through Thursday Club, a Drop-In, social group, adult learning, resource & support group that provides opportunities for its users to improve and maintain their well-being. The group is very much user led with members contributing collectively towards how the group is run and also where we go to on our regular trips. All our activities are designed to promote better mental health & well being and work towards recovery and a fulfilled life. During the group individual support sessions are available for members to discuss a range of issues and to get help in resolving these.

Thursday Club

Thursday Club is a friendly, accessible and caring group with members making firm friends and supporting each other outside of the group or attending other services together for mutual and peer support. We have even had one marriage! Refreshments area available during the session.

Chit Chat

Our Chit Chat group, a service user led magazine group that provides opportunities to improve personal well-being, develop useful work related skills and inform/educate people about a wide range of mental health and other issues. Written, run and edited by the group themselves, it is an opportunity for members to express themselves whilst building confidence and skills on the road to recovery.

How to Attend

Members need to be referred in the first instance by their key worker, GP of other worker associated with their needs. Once completed we ask they visit the club preferably with their key worker the first time if they are able.

Merton Directory of Mental Health Services

Some years ago Chit-Chat and the Centre produced the Merton Directory of Mental Health. We are hoping to produce another one shortly but until then this is a particularly good reference guide for professionals or support workers but designed primarily for those who are suffering with their mental health or on the road to recovery. Click on the link below to download a copy, but remember some things may be out of date by now.
